FAQ

  1. How does BeehiveID work?
    1. BeehiveID works by examining the social graph of users – Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. in order to identify the complexity of the graph and connections. Real people have complex webs while fraudsters (or people with no history) have shallow webs. We also use public and private data sources to verify other aspects of the account – use of stock photographs, for example.
  2. Biometric face matching? What are you doing with that?
    1. With over 500 million photographs uploaded to the Internet each day, photographs represent a strong source of data to verify identity claims. The average person will have their photograph show up in their friends’s profiles and vice versa, but this is very difficult for someone creating a fraudulent profile to do.
  3. What does the BeehiveID score mean?
    1. The BeehiveID score is modeled on a credit score – a score in the 300s represents a shallow profile that cannot be verified, while a score of 800 is a deep profile that represents a real person.
  4. How hard would it be to fake a BeehiveID?
    1. It would take 1000-2000 hours to “curate” a fake profile that would pass our algorithmic tests.
  5. What if a person doesn’t use social networks?
    1. BeehiveID relies on social proof to validate proof-of-person. Just like a credit score cannot validate creditworthiness without a credit history, we cannot validate people without social proof.
  6. How difficult is it to integrate BeehiveID into my site?
    1. BeehiveID can be integrated as a back-end service, or via an API call. Either way, it is just a few lines of code.
  7. Do you sell my data to anyone?
    1. Absolutely not! We only analyze social data to establish the person score, then discard the actual data.
